A lot of people have asked me how I came up with the name Grayson Mae for my jewelry line. Well, my husband and I have a little game we play. We randomly call out possible names for our future children wherever and whenever something comes to mind. Sometimes they’re serious, sometimes they’re utterly ridiculous. Grayson and Mae are two on the serious end of the spectrum, but since we probably won’t be using them for our kids, I adopted them for my jewelry line. The M in Mae actually comes from my grandfather, Moe, who was himself a jeweler. So in a sense, I’m continuing the family business. I even use his old, wooden beading board.
I’ve been making jewelry since 2002 when I decided to fill some empty space in my college schedule with a jewelry design class. What started as a hobby to fill my jewelry box became a business making custom jewelry for others. While I still love working with a customer to design a piece specifically for them, creating my own vision for Grayson Mae is very rewarding. I hope you enjoy wearing my work as much as I enjoy making it.
